Thoroughly view the item you are about to purchase. Pay special attention to the description of the item. Many criminals hide words to throw you off. A good example is this" The car is like new, I lost the paperwork but will have them when you come to pick the vehicle up". Now why can't the owner get the paperwork now? Does the car have a lein on it and they don't want you to know just yet? If an item does not come with the proper certificates or title, DO NOT BUY IT! We don't care how great of a deal it may seem, just don't buy it.
View the information of your seller. We have made it possible that every item sold on Astral has a link to take you to the sellers page. Take a few moments out and learn more about the seller. If you go to a seller's page and it is full of information about them, it shows that the seller is not trying to hide anything. If you go there and it looks plain or empty, it shows that the seller may be trying to hide something. Read their About Me" section, see how many pictures they have, see if other members left comments about them, but most importantly, check to see whether or not the seller if verified.
Being verified means that we have verified the seller by sending them a postcard through the USPS. When the seller receives the postcard, they must show their ID to the postmaster. Once we receive the receipt back, we verify the seller. Now we don't want you to take this as an all access pass to 100% trust the seller, we are just saying that we have taken one of the steps for you to trust them.
Astral has made it so sellers can ONLY add "Buy Now" or "Add To Cart" buttons to the items they are selling using either Google Checkout or Paypal. These two companies go through GREAT length to secure their members private information from hackers. We trust them a great deal and use them ourselves. DO NOT give your credit card information to ANYONE. If the seller's item does not have a Paypal or Google Checkout button, send a money order or similar.
The number one way to prevent fraud on websites is the members. By each member doing their part to notice strange activity, and reporting it to us, we can therefore take action before someone gets scammed. Astral makes it very easy to contact us and to report a violation of our policies. You can:
